OOC: Time of Fire Q&A RP-log

((OOC: This is a post/RP as part of the Time of Fire Q&A SL brought to us by Cerberus Solutions. ))

Rovena’s request was simple “Get me out of here and lets have some dinner. Maybe we can even lure Q&A out.” They discussed it briefly, then settled for an upper scale but not too renowned steakhouse.

Rovena was wearing her usual grey business combination. The jacket with a phoenix woven into the fabrics pattern, the matching skirt, heels and stockings. Form fitting, sexy. But Kyle knew she was wearing a vest under the while blouse, and a pistol at the small of her back, a second in the bra holster.

She slides the last bite of her steak into her mouth and smiles at him. “Hmm, that was a wonderful dinner and the company so much nicer than expected. Want to go for a dessert?”

They had not seen and people following them since they hit the town but right that moment he could spot a man and a women in black suits enter the restaurant that clearly screened all the guests, looking for someone.

How could he have passed up an offer like that? Kyle was wearing one of his usual suits. It felt nice to get out of combat gear and into something comfortable if only for a few hours, but she wasn’t the only one armed. He had a knife strapped to his ankle, a needle in the inside of his suit jacket with the type of concoction inside of it a CIA spook would use to knock out someone they wanted to “talk” too, and sidearm at his back.

They’d picked a table they gave them the best overall view of the restaurant and despite the fact that over the course of the meal he’d been watching albeit subtly for company, and the overall circumstances of the week, it had been more than nice to just spend time with her.

“The foodie, that’s me, is always going to say yes to dessert,” he winks at her, and motions at the Waiter. He doesn’t even miss a beat when he see’s the suits walk in. “Company, twelve o’clock.”

Rovena quickly orders two espressos and a creme brulee for herself and a mouse au chocolat for him when the waiter shows up to have him leave the table as soon as possible.

Just when he is gone the two approach their table, show their hands as if to show that they are unarmed and pull chair from neighboring tables. “You don’t mind, no?” The woman says. “Dr. Treublatt, Mr. Daklan.” She gives them a faint nod. “I’m sure you know who we work for. We would like to talk with you about …” She clucks her tongue. “Your pretty lover. Got a thing for gingers?” The blond woman gives Kyle a smirk.

Kyle takes a final sip from his wine glass, then regards the pair. “Everyone knows red heads are the most passionate in bed.” He waggles his brows at the woman. “If you ask Rovena nicely she might let you get a sample.”

The brunette guy chuckles but after a firm look from the woman that probably is his boss he falls back into professional, neutral expression. She turns her attention to Rovena. “Don’t answer to that. I don’t need permission to get any … sample … of Dr. Greyse. But what I need to know is where she -is-".

Rovena tilts her head, swallows the rising anger and just hopes they would not feel the temperature dropping a few degree around the German. “Ohh, you don’t have found them?” Rovena ask but then mirrors them. “Don’t answer that, you would not be here if you had. Before I answer any of your questions I want your guarantee that your people stay away from her and my homes, stop following me.”

Kyle chuckles at the woman. “Wow. Sounds like you’re just shitty at your job, doesn’t it? I mean here you are, interrupting my dinner, making rude remarks, and overall just being generally fucking useless.” Kyle folds his hands on the table and looks at the man. “I assume its your ass on the line every minute you don’t come back with answers. My advice? Ask for a transfer. Away from her. She’s ineffective.”

The man shifted a glance at his boss, but otherwise remained silent for the moment. Kyle let it slide and looked at Rovena. “I think she should also let you punch her, before you answer anything too. And give us the names and addresses of their little useless squad that destroyed your house.”

The woman opens her mouth to respond to Kyle’s first accusations and comments to her assistant. But he goes on and causes her to give him a blank stare for a second before she gathers herself again. The man considers Kyle’s words, thinks about them but hides any reaction if they caused one.

Rovena and the blond both want to start talking at the same time, when the waiter joins the table and brings them the espresso, a small cookie on the spoon. He smiles at the new couple. “Can I bring you anything?”

The blond nods and orders a white wine while the man goes for a coke.

As soon as the waiter is gone Rovena speaks to them again. “I actually have to agree with Mr. Daklan’s request. After your teams were in my home you know I will enjoy that.” She gives her a smirk. “But for the sake of this getting anywhere I might be willing to let that slide.”

“So you’re not going to punch her?” He look at Rovena again, letting amusement show in his face as he picks up his spoon. “Because I really think she’s just a bully the kind that can’t take a hit.” he takes a bite of his chocolate and eyeballs the woman like he’s sizing her up, trying to determine whether or not she could take a hit.

The blond gathers herself again. “No one will punch me. No in -here-” She states rather confident. “But as it seems your fiance or your -EX- fiance to be precise, did not thought you manners well enough. Ms. Treublatt I am disappointed.”

Rovena takes a look around the room then gives her a smirk. “Depends.” Her steel blue eyes lock on those of the other woman, not much paying attention to the guy.

The Illuminati looks back, not breaking the eye contact but tilts her head a little. “Well that would put you in good company with your criminal lover.” When she realizes that the accusation is nothing new for Rovena she nods and say with a generous, maybe too generous smile. “Fine, we won’t touch your or Dr. Greyse’s places again.”

He continues eating his dessert. “You guys really have to try out new interrogation methods. A well placed emotional punch can be effective, but you seem to like trying to use it every other line. That suggestions once again, you’re fucking useless at your job.” He takes a breather. “But you’re right, I have no manners. I’d have punched you, regardless of where we are. First for the house, second for being a lumie, third for trying to insult me.”

He looks at Rovena, reaching for his coffee. “If she’s going to give in that easy, maybe you should ask for something else too.”

A small smile forms on Rovena’s lips when she hears his words and the effort the other woman as to put into staying polite and outwardly calm. Her head turns to Kyle and she nods. “You are right. I should ask for safety for Sophie and the others but I know she can’t offer that anyway. So … " Her head flicks to the blond again. “What about compensation for the damages you have done?”

A sigh, then the Illuminati gives in. “Fine, if you cooperate and answer our questions we will pay compensations for the damages done.”

Rovena gives her a faint nod, agreeing to the terms.

“Now the question is, can we trust her to actually come through on it. Since I’m guessing she wants you to answer her questions now.” Kyle clucks his tongue, regarding both of the agents, before he looks back at Rovena. “I say we take his pinky as insurance. And when you receive the check, we give it back. I’m sure the Smurfs, er, sorry, Lumies could just sew it back on. No big deal right? Take one for the employers.” He looks at the gentlemen this time, offering him a grin.

Rovena just nods and leans back on her chair, looking from one to the other.

While the man stares at Kyle, giving him the traitor glare the blond only shrugs. “We can’t won’t know if we get the truth if we pay in advance.” She shakes her head and firmly states. “This will not happen.” Her eyes dart to Rovena again, since she seems to be the more reasonable one. “Listen, Dr. Greyse and your ‘business partners’” She makes air-quotes. “have kidnapped someone really important. We need to find them. They are in a lot trouble and the sooner we find them the more likely it is there will be a way out for them. Did any of them drop a hint of what they are up to?”

Rovena shakes her head. “You are the one who wants the intel. Just write the check and put it on the table.”

The blond gives her assistant a nod and the relieved man writes out a check with a low six figure number, barely able to cover the damages.

“Could you call the bank to verify it, Kyle?” Rovena asks.

He chuckles again at the expression the man gave him, and simply goes back to eating his dessert as they continue to talk. When the check finally his the table, Kyle nods.

“I can.” He picks up the check, looking over the information and removes his cell phone and calls the bank listed. It’s a fairly brief conversation and the funds are finally confirmed. Kyle ends the call. “It’s good.” He uses the app on his phone to take a picture of the check and deposit it for her.

The Man, deciding he either wants to be useful, less likely to offered up as a sacrafice or believing some of the shit Kyle was talking about his boss, puts the check book away and looks at Rovena. “Your girlfriend had to have mentioned a location, somewhere secure that she would have gone. An in case of emergencies type of place. Give us a location.”

Rovena shakes her head. “No, we don’t have such a location. She is not a field agent and did not expect to ever has to run from anyone. Dr. Greyse is not someone who would betray her team. If she was in trouble and wanted to meet me, she would call me and we would not have this conversation. Because I would be with her.” She eyes him and eventually stirrs sugar into her espresso and drinks it.

“In essence what you’re saying is she’ll be willing to go down with the rest of them. Because she’s loyal. And she will go down, Miss. Treublatt. With, or without your help we’re going to find them. All of them. But, if you help us, just maybe you get to see her again.” The man puts his hands around his coke but doesn’t drink it. His voice takes on a concerned note. “I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that you’re claiming she would leave you in the dark. You bought a house together. You have a joint bank account. Clearly you’re planning a life together, a future. This, what’s she’s doing right now, destroys all that. That future is gone. Help us. The faster this goes, the better it is for everybody. You know something, some little detail she mentioned, maybe while you two were in bed together and it seemed like nothing.”

Kyle finishes his dessert. “Unless Sophie was pulled into something unexpected. Thus the current situation. Thus, Miss. Treublatt doesn’t know shit. Thus, once again you and this line of questioning is pointless.”

Rovena breathes much more controlled as his words hit home but she shakes her head. “She would not leave me. Dr. Greyse would not do something that risks our future for something stupid. But Mr. Daklan is right, she did not knew she was going off the grid, otherwise we would have found a way to communicate. I felt there was a lot tension at work though. But to be honest, it is for us as well so that is nothing to be surprised of. We had an agreement not to talk about work at all since we both can’t afford to compromise the others operations.”

The blond woman pulls out a tablet and takes a few notes, taking a sip of her glass of water.

“But she did leave you Miss. Treublatt. And she has done something that destroys your future.” The man sighs like he cares. “Very well ma’am. If that’s how you wish to play it.” He looks at the blonde woman. “Unless you have questions, we’re wasting our time.”

“Thank fucking gaia, that’s what I’ve been saying.” Kyle folds his arms over his chest, smirking at the two of them like they were the most useless people on the planet.

Rovena shrugs. “I don’t play games. I just don’t know what is going on. All I got so far are the rumors of this kidnapping and -you- shutting down the company. But to be honest I don’t believe in this story. The people missing don’t match the profile for a kidnapping. Either you are stupid because you don’t realize it or not willing to tell me the truth. That’s fine but don’t think this gets me to believe they did something wrong. There is a word, an important one -trust-. You should look it up one day.”

The blond listens to Rovena and eyes her again. “Do you even know who you are trusting there? They are not the good guys, they are no heroes.”

Kyle picks up his fork, reaching across the table like he’s going to steal a bite of Rovena’s desert and deftly knocks over the woman’s wine glass, letting it spill over her tablet and her. “Damn. Sorry. There goes my fucking manners again.” He sounds anything but remorseful.

The blond calmly reaches over to the glass and puts it back up, then leans over to another table to steal a napkin and dry her hands. “Don’t worry Mr. Daklan I’m sure one day you will learn them. I start to understand why … Simone, right? Why she left you.” Her eyes dart back to Rovena. “Sophie is not the only one you have contacts to. Do you think the others dragged her into something? Did Ms. Vanderbilt or Ms. DeJaeger mention something? On you runs? Your business meetings?”

Rovena considers the question for a momet. “Mention? No, only that it is hard at work. I mean I know they lost a lot good people lately but that is as far as my knowlage goes.”

Kyle laughs. “That’s not the reason she divorced me. But, it was a nice try blondie. You’re really hammering in that stereotype good job.” He does in fact, steal a bite of Rovena’s dessert.

The Man speaks again. “What about places they might go in case of an emergency? Do any come to your mind?”

Rovena thinks about his question for a moment. “No places, no. I would assume if they really hide from you, what I still doubt, they would to so at their freinds at other factions. If they don’t and take a new identity and hide somewhere it would be stupid to compromise themself by telling someone who will eventually be questioned anyway.”

“I think you have a nasty habit of trusting the wrong people, Miss. Treublatt. Your personal history suggests this. You have my sympathies.” The man looks at his boss.

“Her logic is pretty damn sound you have to admit.” Kyle sets his fork down and looks between the two lumie agents.

“So far I would say I have quite a good track record.” Rovena shrugs and finishes her dessert, eyeing the two agents.

The blond nods to Kyle’s words. “Sound, yes. Too good, to logical. Either they are great actors and made you believe in them or you lie and they told you something. Gave you a hint. Who would not give a friend, the partner they are planing to spend their life with a hint?”

Rovena gives her and ice cold look. “A professional. I would not.”

Kyle whistles low, like an utter instigator and looks at the woman agent laughter in his eyes. “She’s schooling you. If you’re superiors are watching this conversation, you’re in so much trouble for sucking so fucking hard at your jobs. Both of you.” He looks between the two of them again, and just shakes his head.

The blond eyes Kyle and gives him a fake sorry look. “Mr. Daklan, assuming faults at someone else das not mean they are ours as well. The Cerberus leadership is not exactly know to be professional.”

Rovena mutters “Professional enough to evade you so far.” She tilts her head. “If you don’t have any other question, I think we are done here. The drinks are on me.”

“I’m not assuming anything. You’ve spent hte last half hour proving you’re a fucking idiot. I just call it like I see it. Cerberus on the other hand has proven to outsmart you at every play. Thus why you are, wagging your tails, looking for a bone. Sucks to be you.”

He look at Rovena. “You’re so nice. But she’s right, I think you two should get drunk. I doubt your evening is going to improve.”

The two agents rise from their chair and nod to Rovena. “I have the feeling we will talk again. Good evening Dr. Treublatt.” The blond says and turns on her heels to leave with the other following tail.

Rovena watches them leave and shakes her head. Before giving Kyle a grin.

Kyle waves at them as they leave, then looks back at Rovena and laughs quietly. “Well, fuck Angel, that’s a half hour of our lives we can never get back.” He gives a short shake of his head. “On a more serious note, she gave up agreeing not to watch yours and Sophie’s houses anymore way to easily.”

Rovena nods. “They are onto something. I won’t trust her on that but still, I’ll use the calm before the next storm to clean Sophie’s places up. I can do Scotland later, she does not have to know right the moment she comes home how bad it was.”

“Agreed. Make sure to do a full sweep of both places for any bugs I’m sure they probably hid a few. And if you need help let me know.”

“I will. I’ll take you or another PG with me, especially to New York. I should better not be there alone.” Rovena agrees and waves for the waiter to get the bill.

He nods, and takes the bill from the waiter, paying for dinner. “Well, it was nice until they showed up. Hopefully Sophie, San and Jessica get back before they decide to follow you again. Still think you should have punched her.” A faint trace of amusement in his tone.

“I definitely should have. But you know, they say you get weak when you grow old, maybe I am aging faster over all this.” Rovena half jokes and heads out, one arm wrapped around him.
